Staying Healthy

The best way to stay healthy is to avoid exposure to persons known to be infected with this virus and continue routine preventive measures, including good hand washing. At this time, there is no vaccine for this virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends continued everyday preventative actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses.

These include actions such as:

  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick

  • Washing your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20seconds

  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unclean hands

  • Disinfecting and cleaning commonly touched areas like doorknobs, countertops especially in common areas

  • Covering your nose and mouth when you sneeze or cough

  • Staying home when you are sick so you do not infect others

  • If you are traveling e.g. airplanes, trains, etc., clean the seats and tray tables with disinfecting wipes
